Description
The Sacred Valley of the Incas is one of the most important historical centers of Cusco, as more and more people are impressed with its beauty, in turn the Sacred Valley extends along the Vilcanota River. The Sacred Valley covers the area between the towns of Pisac and Ollantaytambo.
In this great trip to the Sacred Valley we will learn about living culture, traditions that even today are practiced by the locals, we will learn about the Andean textiles that are practiced in the town of Chinchero, Pisac and Ollantaytambo.
These ancestral techniques of dyeing, weaving and spinning are still practiced today in the villages of Chinchero, and Pisac, from which we can bring back some nice souvenirs which are handmade.
Itinerary
We will start our trip by picking you up from your hotel or accommodation in the city of Cusco, starting at 8:00 am and transferring you to the Sacred Valley, considered one of the main legacies of the Inca civilization.
We will start our tour through the mountains on our way to the town of Pisac. On the way we will make a stop at Taray, which is a beautiful tourist viewpoint, where we will have a panoramic view of the entire Sacred Valley.
Arriving at the village we will ascend until we reach the archaeological site of Pisaq, which is built on top of a mountain.
Upon returning to the town of Pisac we will visit its picturesque handicraft market of the area, the local people are experts working minerals, we can make some purchases in the place.
At noon, through the banks of the Vilcanota River, we will continue our journey to our restaurant in Urubamba. We will enjoy a delicious and nutritious novo Andean buffet lunch of the exquisite Cusquenian gastronomy.
After lunch we head to the Ollantaytambo Archaeological Site, which in Inca times was a tambo or resting place, it is also the starting point to reach the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. We will explore its most important stone buildings, such as: the great stone terraces, the Temple of the Sun and the fountain of the Princess Baths of the time.
Returning to Cusco we will go to Chinchero, we will visit a local community to visit its Textile Interpretation Center and also visit the Archaeological Center of the place.
At the end of the excursion we will return to the city of Cusco, the tour will end around 6:00 pm at your hotel.
