Description
South Valley Cusco, Inca and Pre-Inca Archaeological Sites
The South Valley Cusco tour will take us through the tourist circuit of the South Valley, where we will explore Inca hydraulic engineering, the enigmatic Wari culture, and the finest examples of religious-colonial art.
ITINERARY
We will meet you at 8:30 AM at your hotel, preferably located in the center of Cusco.
Accompanied by our expert guide, we will embark on a tourist transport journey to the South Valley of Cusco.
Our first stop will be the Archaeological Site of TipĂłn, or the “Temple of Water.” There, marvel at the advanced irrigation system and the Incan agricultural terraces.
Next, we will head to the Archaeological Site of Pikillaqta, once a prominent pre-Inca city of the Wari culture. Besides its rich history, you will enjoy panoramic views of the Huacarpay lagoon wetland in the town of Lucre.
Finally, we will visit Andahuaylillas, home to the Church of San Pedro ApĂłstol, nicknamed the “Sistine Chapel of America” for its exquisite 17th-century colonial art.
After our exploration, we will return to Cusco, arriving around 3:00 PM.
