Description
The tour begins with the pick up of the tourist at his hotel in Cusco. Then travel by minivan to the village of Cusipata. There you will enjoy a buffet breakfast. The trip continues to the Phulawasipata camp. There begins the 6 kilometers hike to the Vinicunca, the 7 colors mountain. There we will be able to get incredible pictures. The way back follows the same route. In Cusipata we make a stop to enjoy a buffet lunch. Finally we travel to Cusco where the tour ends.
ITINERARY
In this program we will visit one of the new natural attractions of Cusco “The mountain of 7 colors” or also known as WINIKUNKA (vinicunca). It is located on a summit located at 5,100 meters above sea level and 100 km southeast of Cusco. The tour starts early in the morning, we will pass by your hotel in Cusco between 04:00 and 04:30 a.m. (OTHER DEPARTURE TIME AND PICK UP POINT CAN BE AGREED) to travel by car for approximately two hours to the south, until we arrive to the district of Cusipata – Paucarpata in the province of Quispicanchi where we will have breakfast.
Then we will travel by car 1 hour more to reach the checkpoint and start the walk that will last approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to reach the foothills of Valle Rojo, place of access to this beautiful mountain of 7 colors, we will observe the flora and fauna typical of the Andes, among which highlights the presence of llamas and alpacas, to reach the viewpoint of Vinicunca or Montaña de Colores (5100 meters above sea level). Our guide will give us an entertaining explanation about the orography, ecosystem and color of the mountain, a wonder of nature product of the oxides of the different minerals that make up these geological formations. The slopes and peaks have colors ranging from red, purple, green, pink, yellow and other interesting colors and you can also see the majestic snow-capped Ausangate.
We can also take the time to take pictures of the memory next to the mountain and admire the beautiful scenery, then we will return by the same path to the point where we started the walk (Llaqto) where our transport will be waiting to take us back to Cusipata to enjoy a delicious Andean lunch. After lunch we will start our return trip to Cusco, arriving between 4 and 5 in the afternoon.
The last stop will be near the Plaza de Armas of Cusco and in this way we end our tour to the mountain of 7 colors, hoping that you have enjoyed this hike to this natural attraction.
